We are thrilled to introduce you to Wild Trek Expeditions, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization committed to reconnecting children with the wonders of the natural world. At Wild Trek, our mission is to make outdoor exploration and environmental education accessible, engaging, and safe for all families. We offer affordable, place-based programs designed to immerse kids in hands-on learning, adventure, and personal growth—empowering parents to choose the best-fit experience for their child. Every expedition is thoughtfully led by passionate educators—current or former teachers—supported by dedicated interns and former campers who know firsthand the impact of our programs. With Wild Trek Expeditions, you can trust your children are in experienced, caring hands, gaining skills and memories that will last a lifetime.
Wild Trek Executive Director and retired science educator with 20 years of experience running place-based student trips. The trips include The Grand Teton Science Adventure, Smoky Mountain Adventure, and Science Camps. Mike has taken over 7000 students across the country...and brought them all back safe and happy!
Middle School Science Teacher for 24 years, 10 years experience at the Grand Teton Science Adventure, and running her own Advanced Teton Trip: Backcountry Adventures. Jen is the Science Camp director for all the science camps at Jefferson Middle School.

I love to read and be outdoors with my dogs either going for walks, exploring creeks or playing fetch. During the summer breaks I enjoy spending my time at national parks with my husband to explore the wildlife and trails!

I had the opportunity to go on the first official Wild Trek expeditions trip to the Great Smoky Mountains and it was incredible. I spend a lot of my free time outdoors. Whether it be hunting, fishing, or visiting national parks with my wife. The outdoors hold a special place in my life and I’m excited about the prospect of working with a group of people dedicated to helping as many students as possible experience some of these amazing places.
Joe Wittman has been the Broadcast TV Instructor at The Columbia Area Career Center for the past 13 years. He loves to hike anywhere mountains are involved especially in a national park. He also enjoys landscape photography in his free time.
